Top 5 Ruger Firearms

Millions of firearms fly off the shelves each year making it difficult to pin down which single model is the most popular of them all. However, using documented sales records, it is possible to tell which brands are most preferred by gun lovers. Connecticut-based Sturm, Ruger & Co., Inc is among the industry's shining stars thanks to its full line of rugged and reliable firearms. The 60-year-old company is responsible for more than 400 variations of over 30 product lines, and here is a review of the best five.

#5. Mini-14

The Ruger Mini-14 is one of the best .223 Rem. semi-automatic rifles on the planet. Contrary to popular misconception, it is not a scaled-down version of the M14, but rather a melding of three rifles. It blends the M1 Garand's bolt, the AR15's ballistics, and the M1 Carbine's gas system.

For over four decades, the Mini-14 has been a staple for civilian shooters and law enforcement alike. It survived stiff competition from newer additions - most notably the AR15 - because of its intuitive controls, light overall weight, rapid employment, handiness, and an appealing, more-traditional sporter-like appeal.

#4. GP-100

The Ruger GP-100 was introduced in 1985 to replace the manufacturer's Six Series revolvers and as an answer to the then-popular Colt Python. It is a medium-frame seven shot .357 Magnum revolver that cut a niche for itself due to its versatility, ease of use, reliability, and an accuracy level that surpasses the norm for its class.

The GP-100 comes with a unique butt section and adjustable sights. Featuring an extra thick barrel shank, the gun is engineered for the hot .357 ammo that raises hell with other makes' thin points. It boasts minimal recoil, high safety standards, easy maintenance.

#3. LCP

As more and more states allow concealed carry, pocket pistols' sales are skyrocketing. Ruger took advantage of this with the LCP: a five-inch recoil-operated, locked-breech, semi-automatic handgun with six rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

It is a lightweight, polymer-framed .380 pocket pistol available in a plethora of finishes. It features a glove-friendly trigger guard and eliminates any sharp edges to prevent any snags when drawing. A newer version, the Ruger LCP II, introduces several aesthetic and functionality improvements.

#2. 10/22

The Ruger 10/22 is the undisputed champion of the rimfire division since 1964. The .22 autoloader is available in 10 cataloged variants. Although it packs enough stopping power to make a good self-defense ammunition, the manufacturer designed it for target practice and small game hunting.

The 10/22 is DIY-friendly, affordable, accurate, and reliable. It comes with a ten-round rotary magazine and a trigger-locking safety feature. It is a humane shooter that everyone wants and everyone can afford.

#1. Mark IV

The current iteration of the Ruger Mark IV pistol is an elegant, modernized progression of the company's most iconic firearm. Although its internals and controls are updated, flagship .22 LR rimfire pistol retains most of its WWII-era influences and aesthetics; minus the notorious difficulty of reassembly of the Mark III.

It is available in three flavors: an all-stainless Hunter version, a stainless-steel Target model, and a blued 22/45 Target variant. All models include Ruger's tweakable target sights, an internal safety lock, and a one-touch disassembly button. It comes standard with two 10-round magazines and a spring-powered magazine ejection assist. As far as .22 LR pistols are concerned, the Mark IV will continue to reign.
