Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays
With roots that sink deep into the hunting traditions of wing shooting, the clay shooting sports are perhaps some of the oldest formal competitive shooting styles still in common practice with modern firearms. In fact, the earliest forms of these games involved live birds, which is where terms like “clay pigeon”, “trap,” and “PULL!” came from. Clay shooting is a shotgun sport in which shooters engage flying frangible targets in an effort to break them before they touch the ground. Read more...
NRL22
The NRL22 was created to provide a way for shooters that are looking to get into the sport of precision rifle shooting the opportunity to do so without having to invest a lot of money in gear and travel. The NRL22 program is designed so that any facility with a 100 yard range can participate in local competitions to qualify for a National Championship.
Precision Rifle
Precision Rifle Shooting (PRS) consists of long distance shooting on the clock. It is dynamic and requires shooting from several shooting positions at distances from 200 to 800 yards, or higher. Competitors use either bolt rifles or gas operated semi-autos in calibers chosen for their accuracy at long distances.
USPSA
USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) is an exciting handgun action shooting sport that rewards speed and accuracy. Shooters have the freedom to attack the course of fire in any order and engage targets from anywhere in bounds. This makes stage planning, memory, and aggressive movement essential to score well. The targets, consisting of a mixture of static or moving paper and steel, are laid out on a dynamic course consisting of boundaries and obstructions which the shooter must interact with to engage them. A shooter’s score consists of the amount of points they scored divided by the amount of time they used to shoot them. Whoever scores the most points in the least amount of time is the winner. PCSL
The PCSL (Practical Competition Shooting League) is a new alternative to USPSA and multigun competition. Its unique high-risk, high-reward target is optimized for points-per-second scoring. The rule set is open source, allowing each club to create unique match flavors. PCSL is the newest action shooting sport on the scene and is evolving quickly.
3 Gun / Multigun
The sport of 3-Gun is the extreme sport of the competitive shooting world. At its core elements, 3-Gun is an action shooting sport somewhat like golf with a sense of urgency. A 3-Gun match consists of a collection of individual stages (“holes” if you will) which are courses made up of various types of targets scattered about with various forms of obstructions and obstacles for the shooter to negotiate. With a rifle, shotgun, and a pistol at their disposal (the “clubs”) the shooter who hits all the targets in the shortest amount of time is the winner. Read more...
